TruSec ID, Inc. (TSI), a privately held investment company, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Salamander Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of automatic identification and tracking solutions in the US emergency services market.
TSI’s investment will accelerate Salamander’s emergence as the national standard for tagging, tracking and reporting on first responders and civilian victims during emergencies, incidents, or planned events. TSI will also support the growing Salamander opportunities in education, industrial safety, and healthcare. National sales and field support of Salamander solutions is provided by an expanding alliance of TSI distributors.
“Salamander has done a tremendous job in establishing itself as the early-market leader for identifying and tracking field personnel and assets. Their tag-to-web architecture featuring RFID, smartphone and cloud-computing technologies is second to none,” said Jeff Hattara, CEO of TSI. “This investment by TSI gives Salamander the critical mass and market reach to complete its mission in emergency services as well as penetrate logical new markets such as student tracking, utility field-worker tracking and building evacuation.”
Founded in 2001, Salamander is the leading provider of personnel accountability solutions in the USA that comply with the National Incident Management System which requires public safety agencies to identify and track personnel and victims during incidents.
The Salamander solution has been adopted by over 10 state emergency management agencies (EMAs) and thousands of county EMAs and local fire/police/ems departments. The solution was deployed during Hurricanes Ike and Sandy, multiple Super Bowls and the recent Democratic National Convention. The Salamander solution is protected by five US patents which cover the use of high-capacity ID tags and smart-devices for tracking first responders and civilian victims during incidents.
Over the last several years, Salamander has made substantial investments to update and focus its Intelligent Accountability product offerings to include SaaS and Mobility platforms. Now as part of the TruSec family, its sales and service teams will be able to provide collaborative installation, training, and seamless support services in current and emerging markets, including several key international opportunities.
“We are proud of the technology platform, brand, and market leadership we have built over the last decade,” stated Russ Miller, co-founder of Salamander. “TSI’s investment will now take us to the next level”. Miller will continue as president of Salamander.
